Technology Evolution of the 90's

These days there seems to be so many different computers and devices coming out by the quarter or the year. It's not too often we hear about the technology that paved the way for what we use today. Some of the younger generation have never even heard of these types of technologies, myself included. There are some devices and computers still used to this day. Here are some of them:

1.)  The Iomega ZIP Drive:
A device intended to replace the floppy drive. It held significantly more space than a standard HDD. It was implemented before we started using External drives and jump drives. It didn't catch on to the masses as intended.

2.)  The Sony Mini Disc:

Sony announced this product in 1992 as the technology to replace the Compact Disc. It held up to 80 minutes of music but had a smaller disks for it. I can almost say it is a predecessot to the Ipod in my opinion. It was another technology that just didn't catch on.

3.) PDA's

Before our beloved smart phones we had time where our organization was paper. Computer could do this but you couldn't take it with you. Cell phones were becoming more prevalant but they were very basic compared to now.  Around the early 2000's Palm came out with the palm pilot which was a big upgrade from any other organization device. These were obviously replaced by the modern day smartphone.

These are some of the devices that have come out over the years. Its a testament to have fast technology has changed and always will.  What may be cutting edge today may end up being a dinosaur in a few years. No  matter what technology is always going to evolve.
